New Republic says ‘Its Time to Ban Guns. Yes, All of Them.’
The New York Times’ call to ban just some guns wasn’t good enough for the New Republic’sPhoebe Maltz Bovy, no siree! She wants to ban all the guns:
I say this not to win some sort of ideological purity contest, but becausebanning guns urgently needs to become a rhetorical and conceptual possibility. The national conversation needs to shift from one extremean acceptance, ranging from complacent to enthusiastic, of an individual right to own gunsto another, which requires people who are not politicians to speak their minds. And this will only happen if the Americans who are quietly convinced that guns are terrible speak out.
She doesn’t get that the more those on the left scream to ban guns, the worse it gets for them, does she?
And it doesn’t help politicians who say that they’re not trying to take guns:
She doesn’t explain “how” she’ll accomplish this in her article either, which is quite important — because it’s impossible:
